The Life and Death of Trees

There is something special about Autumn. I look forward to it every year.

The death of thousands of trees into a burst of fiery color, means I anticipate something new.

Autumn reminds me that I’m alive.

Autumn reminds me that there is beauty in loss and change.

The truth is, Autumn feels more like a new year than New Years day does.

So, when Autumn comes a month early- as it seems to have done this year- I can’t help but feel hopeful about what’s next.

Hopeful that in the end, when all the chips are down, and all the roads have been chosen,

We’ll find that we’ve been part of something special;

Something that matters, something of purpose.
